Kirigakure (霧隠れの里, Kirigakure no Sato; Literally meaning "Village Hidden in the Mist") is located in the Land of Water. As one of the five great ninja villages, Kirigakure has a Kage as its leader known as the Mizukage. An unusually high number of missing-nin seem to originate from this village. A unique classification of ninja known as hunter-nin are specifically tasked with eliminating these defectors. Kirigakure's architecture is composed of several cylindrical buildings, with the Mizukage's palace being the widest and the largest. Like its name, the village is surrounded by a thick mist, with several mountains in the background, making it difficult to find by foreigners.
Kimimaro's early life was marked by containment in a Kaguya clan cell. This dark and dreary cave cell had tags to keep the young and powerful Kimimaro locked away. When the clan decided to finally turn against Hidden Mist and go out in a blaze of glory, they released Kimimaro and asked him to fulfill his purpose in life and kill.
Nearby of going into Kirigakure is a mountain range that appears to stand alone. This mountain only has two paths - both of which are all deadly if one does not know the way. This mountain has no sisters - it's alone, and surrounded in thick mist from the nearby sea; the mountain itself is ruthless with its unstable rocks and bottomless abysses.
